Trump Praises Swinney After Reelection in Scotland

(MENAFN) According to reports, US President Donald Trump extended congratulations to Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney following his reelection, highlighting his role in discussions related to tariff reductions on Scottish whisky.

In a post shared on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said:
"Congratulations to John Swinney on winning his Re-Election for First Minister of Scotland,"

He went on to add: "He is a good man, who worked very hard, along with the King and Queen of the United Kingdom, with respect to Tariff relief for Great Scottish Whiskey — and deserves this Big Electoral Victory!"

The comments came after elections were held on Thursday across England, Scotland, and Wales.

According to reports, Swinney’s Scottish National Party secured a record fifth consecutive term in office, winning 58 seats in the 129-member parliament. Meanwhile, Labour and Reform UK each finished with 17 seats, tying for second place.
